Dried off from flyering we were joined by six other goodgymers for an indoor session as the weather was too treacherous for goat mountain escapades.
It was lovely to also welcome Bethan for the first time this evening!
We were tasked with doing something very unique this evening, making seed bombs out of clay, mud and soil for the farm to distribute at a community event.
A small group ventured into the woods to retrieve some soil before heading in. We then had to remove twigs and worms from the soil before mixing the soil with clay and water and eventually the seeds.
We then rolled these into small ping pong sized balls before removing them for safe keeping.
We were tasked with making 60 but Abby counted 217!!
Definitely a unique task and we were even rewarded with cake 🍰

We were back out again this evening helping to deliver some of the 10,000 leaflets Tom has for us to distribute.
The weather was torrential and as we are distributing more leaflets we are finding we have to walk considerably further to make it back to the farm in time!
We were joined by Laura for the first time who did an awesome job braving the elements for a first task!
Most amusing part of this task was spotting some grafitti marked Wilson. Who knew we had banksy amongst taskforce? 😂We got back to the farm with a little time to spare before the main task 😊

We were happy to be back on the farm in the sunshine this morning helping them to embark on their new project of building a maze out of raised planters.
The farm has received funding to build the maze to help encourage community volunteering and more people to engage in nature.
Tom was discussing with us how the plan is to have the planters acting as a food bank of vegetables for people to come and take whilst educating people about plants and how to use them.
Steph and I were employed as the muscle again to begin with, shifting the heavy planks of wood over to the maze site. Mini goodgymer helped Tom carry the stakes. Halfway through mini goodgymer and I swapped with a member of the public who was also volunteering to water all the plants whilst Steph continued helping assembling the wood to make the raised planters.
It was exceptionally hot so half way through the session Tom treated us to cake and tea!
Well refreshed we got back to work with Steph helping finish off the planters and mini goodgymer and I helping lay cardboard in the planters and put away some ground sheets.
It was a really good and interesting session and we look forward to seeing how the maze takes shape over the coming weeks.

A great morning this morning helping the lovely people at Sholing Valleys setup their spring fayre which will bring some much needed funds in to help support the work they do.
The sun was shining and we quickly got to work erecting gazebos, shifting boxes (with a lot of creepy dolls in!), carrying tables and chairs and making makeshift bins.
It was nice to spot some other organisations we had helped with before and we had a nice chat with Friends of Peartree green about the task we did pulling up Virginia Creeper.
Really lovely to see community out in force enjoying the sunshine and helping 🌞

We were back at YMCA this evening to tackle the garden with Ellie, Steph and Leszek seeing the wonders of the YMCA garden for the first time.
We arrived slightly early so fit in a little more in the time available. Leszek got to work quickly clearing the litter in the left hand corner whilst I focused on hacking back the big bushes / trees encroaching on the public highway.
Ellie did an excellent job giving the grass a short back and sides and Steph chopped and moved into bin bags all the branches needing taking away.
Sarah found many random items whilst clearing the best one of which was a phone!
The session went quickly with eight bags of rubbish accumulated before heading home. We look forward to returning next month 😊

After the beach clean we went to the boardwalk at Eling to install the fairy doors we had made and painted on Thursday.
With chief fairy door inspector giving instructions on where would be best for the fairy doors to be located we got to work putting them into situ!
The boardwalk is looking refreshed and brighter again and children are families will have alot of fun seeing the new doors.
