A half hour clean up of this beautiful mini green space. I found mostly food wrappings and a few bottles and the obligatory item of clothing - this time a single glove.

Wait? thats star trek right? 🚀 Well the quote fits our adventure!
Jane and I joined the final straw beach clean in Eastney this morning to celebrate May the 4th (be with you, and with you). We started in the usual places, clearing the small bits of plastic on the beach and the stinky dog poo bag and then headed 'to the dark side' (over the road). We managed to take a (not) shortcut into a lovely muddy area, no rolled ankles luckily...
After getting back to the path and a short battle with a bag we had the interesting finds of a lantern and the classic one sock. Having collected a good haul we headed back to base to hand in the finds for the final straw team to sort into recyclables.

Jane, Nia and I made another dent in the Milton street litter today! Starting with the grassy triangle at the end of Essex Road, we cleared half a bag's worth, including behind the fencing (though of course we couldn't pull through the motorcycle helmet, kitchen bin or hubcap!) We then headed up by Milton Park and retrieved some of the litter stuck behind the fence with the long litter pickers hurrah! Including a funny note about bad parking - always a hot topic in Portsmouth of course!

With a hint of rain, but promise of sunshine later, there was a beautiful entrance of Bluebells to the woodland walk which looked like an 'in focus' Monet painting. A great photo opportunity for Jane and Mel who were joining the Victoria Park's volunteer team for some gardening. Today we planted 50 yellow hyacinths in two different areas of the woodland walk, which we won't see the beauty of until early next year, but which filled in some gaps amongst the other planting. Once completed, we moved on to cut borders around 4 rectangular plots, along one of the paths, ready for planting in the next weeks, which will add more colour in the Park. We ended the session with a visit to the Hub for a cuppa, biscuits and a chat about the growing menagerie of birds and animals coming into the Park.

A very enjoyable morning - the park is looking beautiful. I was surprised to learn that marigolds are an aphrodisiac for squirrels!!!

Four of us headed to 'the triangle' at the end of Essex Road to once again clean up all the litter that accumulates there! We were surprised to see some contractors there rebuilding the billboard sign, who had also cleared up the area next to the billboard, hurrah for extra help! The grass had grown quite long so was a bit tricky, but we still managed 3 bags of litter! Maxine also found a car wing mirror and a random big piece of plastic which was too big to take! Heading back on Friday for a further deep clean where the contractor vehicles were parked.

Four keen goodgymmers joined baffins pond association for their monthly litter pick on a sunny spring morning. A big GG welcome to Joe for his first good deed with goodgym. Lovely to meet you!
As usual at baffins there was copious cigarette butts to pick up around the pond and the squirrels were wild and the gave Joe a friendly 'hitchcock'-esque welcome to the woods.
We met Yvonne and Jane and headed into stag woods and found a treasure trove of litter as well as a rogue lonely boot on the way. After picking up all the cans and bottles and Joe scaling a tree to get some destroyed tarpaulin we headed back to the BPA to hand in our haul.

Glorious sunshine, if a bit nippy this morning. Yvonne and I were barcode scanning. There were about 70 runners and walkers helped by 6 dogs, 1 of whom was carried for the last stretch! As always, there was a great friendly atmosphere.
