Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
8 runners, 6.7km and a reserve full of jobs
This week saw us welcome 3 new runners along to the GoodGym Southwark contingent and we returned to the site of our inaugural GG Southwark task with Alan at the Galleywall Nature Reserve. We decided to split into 2 groups so the quicker runners were already sawing wood and preparing benches when group 2 arrived. Head torches and many tools in full use and we resembled something out of pimp my ride only with less cars and more zen / muddy ambience.
Alan is getting ready to prepare new seating for the summer evenings in Galleywall and so had lots of wood ready to be cut and screws ready to be screwed as well as continuing some work we started on last time.
In preparation for a new bike store, we began levelling out a corner. Tarpaulin, ripped sheets of metal and some roots that looked a little too alive meant yet another horror story setting. Luckily, this time we were near enough to a road and lots of life to maintain calm.
After a good 40 minutes of work, we set off with the rain beginning to fall. Whilst group 1 were packing up the tools, group 2 were treated to a quick upper body blast before winding our way back through Peckham to the Old Spike. Big up to Michael who set the pace tonight and welcome again to Irene, Megan and Stuart who joined us despite the uncertainty of Storm Jake's force.
Next week we're off to the Salvation Army to see Janet again. Sign up here. It does mean a hill but not necessarily squats! See you there.
