Who this task will support
Maidenhead Community Allotment
The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.

Every Wednesday evening we run or walk to somewhere in Maidenhead where help is needed with a practical task and this week we are returning to the location of our first ever group run over 4 years ago - the Maidenhead Community Allotment!

We will meet at the Maidenhead Community Centre, where there is free parking and other useful things like drinking water and loos. We will welcome and brief everyone on the plan for the evening and then do a quick warm up.

We'll then set off on foot to the task. The distance is just under 2km, and it's up to you whether you run, walk or do a bit of both. All fitness levels are welcome. We will always stay with others and have a back marker so no one need worry about being left behind.

When we get to the community allotment there will be plenty to do - planting, weeding, litter picking and more!

Once we've blitzed the tasks we'll head back to where we started - running or walking the 2km back to the Community Centre, where we will stretch and say our goodbyes. If anyone plans to make their own way home from the task then please let me know, and make sure you remember to stretch when you get home!

As well as the walk/run and task we hope to have time to squeeze in a fun fitness session. This is likely to include exercises like squats, planks and jumping jacks, but we have low impact options too. The emphasis is very much on having fun and being sociable rather than anything more serious or competitive.

Can't wait to see you there!

Walkable

You will be able to join a group walking to the task if you'd prefer not to run.

Options are available to run between 4km and 6km in total

Remember that we run/walk to and from the task, so you'll only be running/walking for half this distance in one go.

This is a standard GoodGym group run. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us.
