Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Eight eclectic GoodGymers powered through the streets of Hackney in pursuit of the perfect pace!
After an energetic dynamic warm up to make up for the inevitable too long on my first day Intro (will get quicker I promise!) we headed off onto the bright streets of Hackney. We had been joined by Charlie from the Independent Newspaper who is writing a piece about the greatness of GoodGym and interviewing everyone as we ran.
After a sharpe 2Km run we found ourselves at out task destination to meet Debbie from Wilton Estate. We needed to move 47 what Anne assured me were at least 2 ton concrete slabs. Dig over the ground in the pollytunnel in preparation for some bulb planting on Saturday and make a start on weeding the flower beds. With such a big task the team attcked with the strength of 10 Tigers!! Moving all the concrete slabs in just 20 minutes. While Kev and Larissa dominated the Pollytunnel with Ninja like Pickaxe skills and Solveig picked weeds like never before!! After 35 minutes of amazing work it was time to go and Debbie thanked us for a job well done and said she can't wait to have us back on the 15th!
On the way back we had the official measuring of the Wilton 500 which will be a monthly time trial at GoodGym Hackney around the circumference of the Wilton estate. The inaugural running will be the 15th of December so bring your racing legs for that! We decided it was only right to warm up the course with some fiery intervals, working at our 5k pace for the short side then recovering along the longer side. After 3 fierce laps we were ready to head back to base, we split into two groups with the speed 4 lead expertly by Kev powered back in double quick time while taking a slightly longer route while the Sexy quartet floated the 3k back saying a quick hello to GoodGym royalty in Ian as we passed the Town Hall.
After a stretch we congratulate ourselves on a great evenings work and had our first attempt of many 1,2,3 GG HAAAACKNEY team call.
The Triple T (Tuesday Talking topic) this week was two fold first everyone agreed that my 3 year old son has to wait until Christmas to get his new scooter (Shhhhhhhh don't tell him) even though his old scooter broke today, Harsh crowd. Second we had our favourite Christmas film of all time there were votes for Santa Claus, Sound of Music, It's a Wonderful Life, Gremlins and film with most votes was Home Alone!!
See you all next week for fun filled running action at St Luke's, please sign up here Link. Don't forget if you would like to get involved doing Coach runs and or Missions please bring you ID's with you to next weeks session. Our last run before Christmas will be on the 15th of December and we will be back firing on all cylinders on the 5th of January.
Yours in fun filled fitness
