Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
14 beautiful Hackney GoodGymers raced around the streets of Hackney to visit The Hive to complete painting preparations for Re:Generation festival on February 6th.
The weather gods were not so kind to us this week but it couldn't deter a determined crew of Team Hackney's finest GoodGymers. Fresh off the super speedy success of the Victoria Park 10k race on Sunday war stories were being told from Andrenna and Patrick while Andy even sent his recount in my email. Conclusion If you are not winning your learning. Seems like Team Hackney are in search of a 10k race to put the learning into action!! Great to see some more runners wanting to join in so will find a race option or two and see what our next challenge should be!
We headed off to our secluded warm up stop where we built on the last couple of weeks of knee drive and balance with a serious blast Cadence drills where we got our feet turning over at lighting speed with some fast feet on egg shells, straight legged running (got told off for calling it something else, sorry) and some hamstring contracting butt kicks. After a few rounds of this the pavement was left on fire as for our final interval was a scorching sprint with our improved leg turnover. We then took a steady run 2k run down to The Hive to get where we met Gee, Flur and of course the jugglers! After a lot of paint was poured and rollers were printed we were off and Wow did we get stuck in! The work rate was relentless, I didn't realise lower body cadence drills transferred to paint roller speed and technique! Or maybe it was the unique setting of The Hive in full circus skill flight on a Tuesday night inspiring Team Hackney to even greater heights. A big kudos goes out to Amy, Jack, Kev and [Cecilia](http://www.goodgym.org/runners/cecilia-gell for the really big effort on the ceiling painting!!
In a blink of an eye 40 minutes had passed 6 walls, 1 section of ceiling and 5 flights of stairs had be paint dominated by Team Hackney!! We left a very greatful team At the Hive who are really looking forward to future tasks with Us so great job Team! A big thank you to Nilesh and the Forest Recycling Project for supplying the paint for this huge project.
We split into two groups for the race back to base, Team Speedy lead by the energetic Kev set out on a 3k route back to base while Team Sexy rocked the direct 1.5k route home. Needless to say Team Sexy took home this weeks title employing a slick aerodynamic Indian file formation for the sprint finish through London Fields! **Team Speedy were very speedy and some really impressive running brought them back dead on time to have a well earned stretch out.
A great session tonight and let's keep the momentum going with our brilliant Starter Session on Thursday meet 6:45 at the E5 Bakehouse please sign up here. A great task at the Hive moving equipment to their new storage locker but with a shorter fun filled 3k run.
Next week we head off to the [Huddleston Centre] who run activities for young people with special needs in Hackney to help them with a spring clear out and some painting. Sign up here.
Don't forget about the very special Re:Generation festival GoodGym session on Saturday the 6th of February at The Hive meeting at 10am for the task and a run to celebrate our hard work in preparation for the festival as well as showing how Great GoodGym is. Sign up here.
Until next time Team Hackney
