Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Goodgym Bristol has survived the worst winter had to throw at us, and is now emerging into the spring sunshine like a grizzly bear!
For the latest Saturday run we headed east to a growing site next to Easton Community Centre. The site has been set up by FoodCycle and Avon Wildlife Trust, and the food grown will be used as part of the meals Foodcycle make on Sundays. Check out the Foodcycle website for more information.
We did a quick warm up and introduction at Roll for the Soul, and then ran through the centre to Castle Park where we did a bit of dynamic stretching and then headed on and to the cycle path and growing site.
With a bumper turnout we got masses done. We split into small groups and set about the tasks, two groups tidied up a big pile of branches into 'dead hedges' , cutting stakes to hold the piles together. Another group tidied an overgrown area, chopping back branches and brambles, and clearing away litter including some odd items, samurai sword included!
You can even vote for your favourite dead hedge here
It was really satisfying to see the impact we made on the site. Great work all round!
With the task completed we ran back along the cycle path and to Roll for the Soul.
For next week's run we're heading to Troopers Hill. It's a bit longer than usual, 5k each way, but it's flat and will be great training for anyone doing the Bristol 10k or any other races.Sign up here
