Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
10 victorious GoodGymers ran 4k to help the Hive prepare for their upcoming events.
On a crisp and clear January evening Team Hackney welcomed some new and a few familiar faces to our special New Year taster session. After a number of introductions from runners both very far (amazing to have Social Enterprise students Hyun Seong and Gi Eun come and visit us all the way from Korea while on holiday) and very near we navigated our way through a skipping filled and walking lunge concluding dynamic warmup. Before we (I) managed to take us on a slight long cut (Oops sorry) to this evenings task at The Hive in preparation for both the Re:Generation festival and a charity fund raiser for Syrian refugees.
We quickly bounced up the stairs to the third floor but amazingly we couldn't find a juggler in sight so cracked on splitting into two elite teams. Team 1 painted the final wall in the gallery while Team 2 gave 4 flights of stairs a second coat of paint to cover the mural. After 10 short minutes we had finished the speedily wall painting. We quickly moved onto the painting 3 skate ramps which are going to be used in a charity fund raiser to send aid to Syryan refugees, with high roller action as well as a steady hand along the edges a fine job was done.
We then moved on to the tough task of moving 5 huge thick wooden boards out of the gallery up a flight of stairs to be stored. With some amazing team work both lifting directing and encouraging we got the job done!
After many thanks from the Team at the Hive we disappeared into the night, while we all frantically tried to remember our numbers for an impending game of secret surges. Number after number was called and surge after surge injected some serious pace into the run back to base!
A series of maintenance stretches rounded off a fun filled evening which really aided the local community.
Really hope to see you all back at a Tuesday evening group run soon! Next weeks task will be great! Sign up here or if you are free a week on Saturday be great to come and represent GoodGym at the Re:Generation festival, sign up here
