We had a great turnout this week with a mixture of walkers and runners so we sent the walkers off early for a head start while the runners got warmed up to take on the evenings uphill struggle to our task.
We were all heading to the Green House community hub where progress on the new cafe space was coming along well. The main cafe space had had one coat but needed another coat and some cutting in. With red, white and green walls to paint we split into three colour coded teams and got going.
The red and green areas being smaller we managed to get finished and left them looking properly smart. The white area was too big for us on this occasion but we got it half done so there's not too much left for their weekend volunteers to work on.
Before we could leave we had to take a moment to celebrate birthday girl Mayra, so with the help of Mr Kipling we enjoyed a round of cake and sung happy birthday!

To mark the end of the football season, grassroots football club 61 F.C. hosted a charity tournament and invited three other teams and their families to join in this very summery festival of football.
GoodGym's task for the day was to manage the car parking and run a carwash to raise more funds for charity.
David arrived early to get the cars park and take car washing orders, then later a flock of Goodgym reinforcements swooped into the park by bike 🚲 and got quickly stuck in to washing the cars.
Man of the moment Musa completed his 100th deed with this task! Well done Musa!
With all the team going at the cars with gusto it was a race to keep clean buckets of water coming! We lost count of cars but it was about 10 in the end and we collected a nice bunch of donations and got fed from the BBQ for our efforts.

Early risers aided by Gail and Sam having set up and checked the course, the morning sun then warmed the multitude of runners and volunteers arriving for parkrun number 401. A supercharged and eye-catching splash of red Goodgym t-shirts formed as we assembled for marshall, scanning, parkwalk and timekeeping duties along with some dual role GG volunteer-and-run superstars. A happy team and a healthy contribution to a successful parkrun.

This task brought with it some good memories and a sad goodbye. Over the last 2 years GG Luton has supported projects at the Square Garden in Leagrave Park and sadly, the venue is being closed and opened up as a refurbished public space by the local authority. This meant that there was lots of equipment that needed packing away into shipping containers for safe keeping. Before getting stuck in on this task, I went for a 5k run with Lizzy which was nice as it was on a route we hadn't run together before. We did a loop around the estate and back to the park. When arrived back at the park, David, Tigger and the always smiling Abim were hard at work loading bits and bobs onto trolleys to wheel over to the container. As we were all present by this point, we set about the biggest task, moving the inflatable stage (already deflated). We all chipped in to get it onto a flatbed trolley and we had it safely put away in the container before you could say, " did Martinbring the cake". The answer of course was, YES. Well, some cheeky vienesse whirls. This was just to toast my recent GG milestone. So after helping to pack up the remaining items, including the marquee the project had been using. We all shared a delicious sweet treat and toasted a job well done. Great effort team, well done 👏
